“How can I tell if blurry vision is due to cataracts or normal aging?

Lately, even updated glasses aren’t giving me clear vision, and things look blurry or hazy. How can I tell if this is just normal age-related vision change or if it’s a sign that cataracts are progressing and need treatment?

Normal age-related changes like presbyopia mainly make it hard to focus on close-up things (like reading), but distance vision stays decent with glasses. cataracts are different, causing that hazy, blurry look at all distances that updated glasses can’t fully fix. Key signs it’s progressing cataracts: increased glare or halos around lights (especially at night), faded or yellowed colors, trouble with contrast, or worsening despite new prescriptions.

See an eye doctor soon for a dilated exam. They’ll shine a light to check lens clouding and rule out other issues like dry eyes or macular problems. If cataracts are advancing and affecting your safety or daily tasks, surgery can restore sharp vision easily; early checks prevent waiting too long.
