Is it safe to fly after Lasik, and does air travel affect healing?

I travel a lot and am concerned about how soon I can fly after Lasik. Do changes in cabin pressure, dry air in airplanes, or long flight durations affect the healing process or the stability of the corneal flap?

It’s understandable to worry about flying after Lasik, especially with frequent travel, but cabin pressure changes don’t dislodge the stable corneal flap once it’s healed (usually within 24-48 hours), and dry airplane air mainly worsens temporary post-op dryness rather than harming results.

Most surgeons clear short flights after 24-48 hours (post first check-up), but wait 3-7 days for long-haul ones to minimize irritation. Use preservative-free drops frequently, wear sunglasses, avoid rubbing, and stay hydrated. No impact on long-term stability if you follow care instructions.
