I've been noticing white discharge for the past few days. Sometimes more, sometimes less.

White discharge is normal in most cases. The vagina is self-cleaning, and discharge is how it removes bacteria, dead cells, and fluid. Most women produce 1–4ml daily, and the amount shifts throughout the cycle.
Normal discharge is clear to milky white, has little to no odor, and doesn’t cause itching or burning. It tends to increase before a period and around ovulation.
When it’s a concern:
- Thick, cottage-cheese texture with itching : likely a yeast infection
- Thin, grayish-white with a fishy smell : may be bacterial vaginosis (BV)
- Yellow or green with bad odor : possible infection, see a doctor
- Increased discharge with pelvic pain or burning urination : get evaluated
