How is Malaria tested and when should we get checked?

I often get confused between viral fever and malaria because the symptoms seem quite similar, like fever, chills, and weakness. Recently, I had a high fever that lasted for two days, and someone suggested getting tested for malaria. This made me wonder how exactly is malaria diagnosed, and when should someone go for a test?

Malaria is usually diagnosed through a blood test. The most common methods include a peripheral blood smear and rapid diagnostic tests (RDTs).

If you have symptoms like high fever with chills, sweating, headache, or body pain especially in mosquito-prone areas you should consider getting tested.

Early testing helps in confirming the diagnosis and starting treatment quickly, which prevents complications.
