Is persistent small lump and pus discharge normal after breast abscess treatment?
I have been suffering from a recurrent breast/underarm abscess for a long time. I have already taken treatment, and a biopsy was also done. The lump has become much smaller, but I can still feel a small lump. The opening of the abscess has not completely closed, and a small amount of pus still comes out daily. I do not have significant pain or fever. Please advise whether this is a normal part of healing or if I need further tests or treatment.

A small lump and mild discharge may sometimes persist for a short time after breast abscess treatment as the area continues to heal. However, ongoing pus discharge is not usually considered a sign of complete healing and may indicate that some infection or inflammation is still present.
If the lump is not reducing, the discharge continues, or you notice pain, redness, swelling, fever, or a foul smell, it is important to follow up with your surgeon or breast specialist. A clinical examination and, if needed, an ultrasound can help determine whether further treatment is required.
If you are having Recurrent pus discharge then you need to consult your surgeon for the complete evaluation of the pus pockets and treatment accordingly
