Is monitoring common for adnexal cysts without serious symptoms?
My ultrasound report says “adnexal cyst,” but I don't really understand what that means. The doctor has asked me to repeat the scan instead of doing surgery immediately. Is monitoring common for these cysts when there are no serious symptoms?

An adnexal cyst refers to a fluid-filled sac found in the adnexa (the area near the uterus, including the ovaries and fallopian tubes), and it is often an ovarian cyst. When a cyst is small and you have no serious symptoms, it is very common for doctors to recommend a ‘watchful waiting’ approach with repeat ultrasounds to monitor any changes in size or appearance. Many such cysts resolve on their own without any intervention. However, if the cyst grows, changes in character, or you develop symptoms like pain or bloating, your doctor may reconsider the treatment plan.
