What changes after hysterectomy if both ovaries are kept?

If the uterus is removed but both ovaries are kept, will periods stop while the ovaries continue producing hormones? I'm getting different answers from people around me. What actually changes after the surgery?

Yes, periods will stop permanently after a hysterectomy because the uterus (which sheds its lining during menstruation) is removed, even if both ovaries are retained.

However, since the ovaries remain intact, they will continue to produce hormones like estrogen and progesterone, so you will not experience surgical menopause. You may still feel mild hormonal fluctuations around the time your period would have occurred, but there will be no bleeding.

It’s best to discuss any specific concerns or symptoms with your gynecologist for personalized guidance.
