IVF with PCOS managing risks of overstimulation and medication side effects ?

I have Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS), and our doctor suggested IVF because other treatments haven’t worked. I am worried about ovarian hyperstimulation and side effects of fertility medications. How risky is IVF for PCOS patients, and what precautions are usually taken?

Women with PCOS are at higher risk of ovarian hyperstimulation during IVF, which can cause abdominal swelling, nausea, or in rare cases more serious complications. Fertility specialists usually adjust medication doses carefully and monitor hormone levels closely with frequent scans. Trigger injections and egg retrieval are timed to reduce risks. With proper supervision, serious complications are rare, and most women tolerate the treatment well.

IVF remains one of the most effective options for PCOS patients who have not responded to other fertility treatments.
