Will monofocal lenses after cataract surgery eliminate the need for glasses?Monofocal Lens

I am 62 and about to undergo cataract surgery with monofocal lens implantation. I’m anxious — will I still need reading glasses afterward, or can I expect perfect vision at all distances? I’m scared of relying on glasses again at my age.

Monofocal lenses are designed to give excellent distance vision, so activities like driving, walking, and watching TV usually improve significantly. For reading or close-up tasks, you will likely still need reading glasses. Most patients feel a huge improvement in independence and confidence, knowing they can perform daily tasks safely. Adjusting to the new vision typically happens quickly, and the need for glasses is often minimal with the right prescription. Overall, you regain clarity without compromising safety.
