How effective are monofocal lenses in restoring vision after cataract surgery?

My mother is 70 and her doctor suggested monofocal lens for her cataract surgery. She is afraid her vision won’t be natural and she will have trouble watching TV or reading. How accurate is vision correction with monofocal lenses, and can it restore day-to-day independence?

Monofocal lenses are very predictable and safe, restoring clear distance vision reliably. While she may still need reading glasses, most patients regain the ability to watch TV, walk independently, and handle day-to-day tasks comfortably. Vision quality is stable and dependable, which is particularly reassuring for elderly patients. The improvement often boosts confidence and reduces dependence on others, making daily life much easier and safer.
