Are My Symptoms Indicative of Piles or Fissure, and When Should I Consult a Proctologist?
I’ve been experiencing symptoms like itching, pain, bleeding, and an extra growth near the anus, which makes me feel it could be piles. Sometimes it becomes severe, and at other times it settles down on its own. This problem has been occurring on and off for nearly 4 years. I haven’t consulted a doctor yet and want to know if I should see a specialist and how to plan the appointment.

Based on the symptoms you described itching, pain, bleeding, and extra growth near the anal area it could be related to piles, and the presence of bleeding with a possible cut may also indicate a fissure. Since your condition keeps recurring and sometimes worsens, it’s important to get a proper medical evaluation rather than relying on temporary relief.
Even though the symptoms subside at times, a long-standing problem like this (on and off for about 4 years) should not be ignored, as it may gradually progress if left untreated. A physical examination by a proctologist will help confirm whether it’s piles, fissure, or a combination of both.
