Tight foreskin and hygiene issues—do I need circumcision and which method is better
1 week ago
I am unmarried and I’ve noticed that my foreskin is quite tight and I’m not able to pull it back properly, especially during erection. I also experience some bad smell, probably due to hygiene issues. I never really tried retracting it during childhood. Now I’m concerned whether this condition (phimosis) needs treatment or surgery. I am also worried about the aesthetics of circumcision and would prefer to avoid it if possible. Can this be treated without surgery, and if not, which method of circumcision is better and what should I expect in terms of pain and recovery?

If your foreskin is too tight and cannot be retracted, especially during erection, it is likely phimosis. Mild cases can sometimes be managed with medications or stretching, but if the tightness persists and causes hygiene issues, bad smell, or difficulty during intercourse, then circumcision is usually recommended.
Among the methods, stapler circumcision generally offers faster recovery and less discomfort compared to conventional or laser methods. The procedure is done under local anesthesia, so there is no pain during surgery, but mild pain or discomfort can occur afterward for a few days. Proper hygiene becomes much easier after circumcision.
You’ll need to avoid sexual activity for about 4–6 weeks for complete healing. A final decision should be made after a physical examination by the doctor.
