Post-Circumcision Care: How to Ensure Proper Foreskin Healing and Skin Retraction in Children
3 weeks ago
I have an issue about my child after circumcision. The foreskin (topi) is not properly visible yet, and there is some swelling. I want to know if the swelling will reduce in 2–3 weeks, how the foreskin will retract properly, whether the stapler or laser method affects this, and what steps we should follow at home to ensure proper healing.”

After circumcision, some swelling is normal, and the foreskin may not immediately retract fully. As the swelling reduces over the next 2–3 weeks, the skin will naturally move back and cover the glans properly.
If a stapler or standard surgical technique was used, it does not prevent proper retraction; laser methods are similar. Gentle care, keeping the area clean, and following the prescribed hygiene routine ensures proper healing. Rings or clamps placed during surgery will fall off in 2–3 weeks, and the skin will adjust gradually.
Once swelling resolves, the foreskin should appear normal without intervention.
