Didn’t Get My Period This Month – What Do I Do First?

It's been 35 days since my last period started and nothing has come. I'm usually regular at 28-30 days. I don't know whether to wait another week or take some action now. What's the right first step?

At 35 days when your usual cycle is 28-30 days, you’re about 5-7 days late. Here’s a practical approach.

Step 1 – Rule out pregnancy: Take a home pregnancy test now. At 35 days from your last period, any standard test will be accurate. Use first morning urine. A positive result is reliable; a negative at this point is also reliable.

If positive: See a doctor to confirm and begin care.

If negative and no period in another week: Retest once more to be thorough. Then consider other causes – stress, PCOS, thyroid disorder, significant weight changes, illness, or even travel disrupting your routine can all delay a cycle.

When to see a gynecologist: If your period hasn’t come 6 weeks from the start of your last period (about 2 weeks past expected), book an appointment.
