We have recently conceived, but there is a lot of confusion about intercourse during pregnancy. Is it safe, and do we need to take any special precautions?

If you have just conceived, the first three months of pregnancy are the most critical (up to 12 weeks), as the risk of miscarriage is higher during this period. During these initial months, it is recommended to be extra cautious: avoid lifting heavy objects, putting pressure on the abdomen, and other activities that may cause strain.

Intercourse can put pressure on the abdomen and may sometimes cause discomfort or complications, so it is generally advised to avoid sexual activity during the first trimester.

After the first three months, a natural and safe sexual life can usually be resumed, but it is important to maintain hygiene and take precautions, as infections during pregnancy can increase the risk of complications. Safe intercourse after the first trimester is generally considered essential and acceptable for most healthy pregnancies, but always consult your doctor if you have any concerns or high-risk factors.
