Recurrence of Pilonidal Sinus After Surgery : Causes and the Right Treatment
1 month ago
I underwent flap surgery for pilonidal sinus last year, but now pus has started coming again from the same area. Why has it recurred and what is the right treatment now?

In some cases, pilonidal sinus can recur even after surgery due to residual infection or incomplete healing. This often happens when a small part of the stitch line remains infected or a cavity forms again within the scar tissue, leading to pus discharge. It does not necessarily mean that the entire surgery has failed—sometimes only a small area is affected.
A proper clinical evaluation is important to identify the exact site and extent of the infection. Based on this, the treatment is planned, which may involve a minor surgical procedure or a revision surgery if needed.
With the right care and guidance from a qualified doctor, this condition can be effectively managed and recurrence can be controlled.
