Whether a woman will have a normal delivery or require a C-section is often difficult to predict in advance, even for a doctor. However, if there are no medical complications, the pelvis is adequate, the baby’s weight is within a normal range, and there are no pregnancy-related risks, the chances of a normal delivery are very high. In fact, in such healthy pregnancies, most women can deliver vaginally.

That said, there are certain situations where a C-section becomes necessary and unavoidable, such as when the baby is in a breech position (buttocks down instead of head down) or if other medical indications arise.

The most important advice is not to take stress about the mode of delivery. Pregnancy is not a disease, and from the very beginning, the body naturally prepares itself for a normal delivery. Staying active throughout pregnancy, unless advised otherwise by your doctor, significantly improves the chances of a vaginal birth. Regular movement, light exercise, and maintaining overall fitness are beneficial.

In addition, specific exercises that strengthen the pelvic muscles such as pelvic floor exercises are very helpful. Nowadays, many women also join Lamaze classes, prenatal yoga, or childbirth preparation classes, which focus on breathing techniques, pelvic strengthening, and mental preparation. These practices can greatly support you during labor and make the journey toward a normal delivery smoother and more confident.
