How Long After Sex Should I Wait Before Taking a Pregnancy Test?
I had unprotected sex 10 days ago. I'm wondering if it's been long enough to test, or if I need to wait longer. I want an accurate result and not a false negative. What's the right time to test?

At 10 days post-sex, you’re right on the edge of reliable detection.
After fertilization, the embryo takes 6-12 days to implant. hCG production then begins and doubles roughly every 48 hours. Standard home tests detect hCG at around 20-25 mIU/mL, usually reached 12-14 days after conception.
At 10 days: if implantation happened early (day 6-7), hCG might just be detectable. If it happened later, you’re still too early.
Best approach: Test now with a high-sensitivity early detection test and first morning urine. A positive result at this point is reliable. A negative test doesn’t rule out pregnancy yet.
Retest on the day your period is due that result will be accurate. If your period doesn’t arrive and the test is negative, retest 3-4 days later.
