I have Tight Foreskin with Diabetes & Recurrent Cuts – Is Circumcision the Best Treatment
2 weeks ago
I am a diabetic patient and I am facing tightness in my foreskin along with repeated cuts and irritation. Sometimes there is also discharge, which I think is due to infection. This problem has been recurring and causing discomfort. I want to understand if this condition requires circumcision, what types of procedures are available, and whether it is safe at my age. Also, will my diabetes affect the surgery or recovery?

Your symptoms are suggestive of balanitis with phimosis (tight foreskin), which is quite common in diabetic patients due to recurrent infections.
In such cases, circumcision is often the most effective and permanent treatment, as it removes the tight foreskin and reduces the chances of future infections and cuts.
There are different methods available—conventional, laser, and stapler circumcision. Among these, stapler circumcision is considered more advanced with faster recovery and better cosmetic results, while laser also reduces bleeding but may involve stitches.
Diabetes should ideally be controlled before surgery to ensure better healing, but mild elevations can still be managed. Post-surgery, you can resume routine activities quickly, and risks like infection significantly decrease. Overall, it is a safe and recommended solution for long-term relief.
