Treatment
The PRP treatment is done in three stages which are explained below:
The first step of PRP is drawing blood from the patient. The amount of blood drawn from the body depends on the severity of the hair loss problem. Approximately 20 ml of your blood is drawn for the procedure.
In this stage, the blood sample is placed in a centrifuge. The centrifuge separates the platelets from red and white blood cells. Then the platelets are combined with plasma creating the platelet-rich plasma that will be used for the treatment of hair fall.
The final stage is injecting the PRP into the scalp where you are experiencing hair loss problems. As the skin on the top of the head is thin, numbing medication is also applied to the scalp region to make sure that the patient doesn’t feel any kind of pain or discomfort during the treatment.

The doctor is likely to advise you to avoid washing the head for 1-2 days after getting the PRP injections in the scalp. Initially, the scalp will be sensitive after the procedure. So, make sure that you don’t touch, scrub, or wash the scalp until the doctor gives you permission to do so.
Typically, two to four sessions of hair PRP are required to get good results in terms of hair growth. The number of sessions required will be different for each patient and will be determined by the severity of the condition.
Typically, it will take around 4 to 6 months for PRP treatment results to appear. In some patients, the treatment will take effect sooner, while in others, it may take longer to see the final results of the treatment.
Hair PRP is usually recommended for people who are in their late 20s or early 30s. People above this age usually have severe hair loss that makes them ineligible for PRP treatment. At this age, doctors usually recommend hair transplant surgery for hair restoration.
The success rate of PRP treatment varies for each patient. In most cases, the success rate is around 95% or higher.
