Hysterectomy is the surgery to remove the uterus (the womb). It is a major gynecological surgery and the second most frequently performed surgery for women in the world. This is simply because as a woman ages and nears her menopause, the uterus tends to develop a number of uterine-related health issues, such as extensive vaginal bleeding, unbearable abdominal pain, blackouts, nausea, constant fatigue, and weakness. Most often, the reason is the development of uterine fibroids or in rarer cases- the change in the shape and size of the uterus.
In some women, the uterus rather falls down from its original position and causes difficulty in urination and defecation along with repeated urinary tract infections. This is called uterine prolapse.
At either of these times, Hysterectomy, that is, the removal of the uterus becomes essential. It provides the final and definite solution to uterine conditions and promises immediate relief.
(Note, Hysterectomy is also performed as a final solution to endometriosis and is a fairly common and safe surgery. However, it invariably ends your biological capacity to birth a child. Therefore, if you desire further childbirth, we suggest you consult more than 1 doctor and assess all alternative treatment options.)
Clinical Evaluation: Pelvic examination and medical history to assess symptoms like heavy bleeding, pain, or fibroids.
Imaging Tests: Ultrasound or MRI to detect abnormalities such as fibroids, endometriosis, or tumors.
Laboratory Tests: Pap smear, biopsy, and blood tests to rule out infections or cancer before recommending surgery.
Hysterectomy can typically be performed in three ways:
Abdominal Hysterectomy: An open cut incision in your lower abdomen and manually removes the uterus. The site is then closed with self-dissolving sutures and substantial recovery can be expected in 5-6 weeks.
Vaginal Hysterectomy: This method is particularly performed only in cases of uterine prolapse. Here, your gynecologist removes the already prolapsing uterus from the vaginal route. Post excision, fine absorbable sutures are made close to the surgical site.
Total Laparoscopic Hysterectomy (TLH): Here, the uterus removal is performed using an advanced medical tool- laparoscope, that is, a tiny, specialized catheter with a camera and light on its end.

Hysterectomy is a safe surgical procedure for various uterine problems like fibroids, uterine prolapse, endometriosis, etc. As per statistics, about 6 out of 100 Indian women in the age group 30-49 years undergo hysterectomy (uterus removal surgery). The numbers are higher for menopausal age groups (45-49 years) with 11 out of 100 women opting for hysterectomy. As it is a common surgical procedure, it must be ensured that the surgery is performed in a medically safe and complication-free way.
Fortunately, women in Ghaziabad who need to undergo hysterectomy to get rid of a uterus related disorder can get in touch with Pristyn Care. In Ghaziabad , Pristyn Care houses a team of highly qualified and experienced gynecologists as well as laparoscopic surgeons. Hysterectomy becomes necessary in severe cases of uterus related medical conditions that cannot be cured by oral medications or hormone therapy. Thus, gynecologists recommend uterus removal surgery for severe conditions of uterine fibroids, endometriosis, uterine polyps, uterine prolapse, hyperplasia, and ovarian cysts.
These conditions cause heavy menstrual bleeding, irregular periods, severe abdominal cramps, swollen belly, etc. If left unattended for a long time, these conditions worsen with time and also increase the risk of other health complications like anemia, urinary and pregnancy related problems. So, one should not delay hysterectomy if their gynecologist advises them to undergo the procedure.
Pristyn Care ropes in the best qualified and experienced gynecologists and laparoscopic surgeons in Ghaziabad. All the doctors working with us in Ghaziabad have a remarkable record of successful hysterectomy and other gynecological surgeries. In addition to this, our specialists make use of safe and advanced laparoscopic techniques for hysterectomy that are minimally invasive in nature.
So, if you have been looking for the right surgeon for hysterectomy in Ghaziabad, get in touch with us for expert consultation.

The number of days required for hospitalization depends on the type of Hysterectomy. While conventional Hysterectomy (open-cut surgery) requires a hospital stay of 2-3 days, you may be relieved the next day in the case of laparoscopic Hysterectomy.
Uterus removal surgery is a slightly delicate procedure and may take anywhere between 1-3 hours. This time varies on your individual health condition, type of surgery, method of surgery, and surgeon’s past experience.
No. The uterus removal itself does not have any major side effects. In fact, it would resolve the intense pain and bleeding you were feeling otherwise and the body would slowly adjust to the changed anatomy. However, if the surgery is performed wrong or any other internal complications are discovered, it may result in-Injury to nearby organs like bladder, urethra, blood vessels, and nerves.Heavy bleeding, blood clots in the legs or lungs Infection
Yes, you can very well have and enjoy sex despite a Hysterectomy. The surgery only removes the uterus. The desire to have sex is rather stimulated by hormones produced in the ovaries and enjoyed through the sensations registered in the vaginal tract and walls. Since neither of them is affected in the Hysterectomy, the surgery does not restrict your sex life. However, do wait for 1-1.5 months before engaging in penetrative sex. This time period would allow you to properly heal through the physical pain, as well as emotional and mental changes.
Uterus removal, that is, Hysterectomy, is a major surgery that demands substantial bed rest and healing time. While a good recovery can be expected only after 5-6 weeks in cases of conventional Hysterectomy, this time reduces to 1-2 weeks in case of laparoscopic Hysterectomy.
Yes. Hysterectomy is a major surgery performed only under acute medical necessity. Therefore, most insurance providers cover its cost under insurance. However, if it is a case of reimbursement, please check with if the said hospital is on your SGHS/ CGHS/ or company panel. Please feel to discuss the same with our doctors/ medical coordinators.
Typically, vaginal hysterectomy is considered the best method of uterus removal. However, it can be performed conventionally only in the cases of uterine prolapse. When the surgery is suggested for any other reason such as fibroids, heavy periods, or endometriosis, total laparoscopic Hysterectomy (TLH) is the most advanced and minimally invasive method. This too removes the uterus through the vaginal route by using laparoscopic instruments. It is particularly famous for its minimal incision, better precision, reduced blood loss, quicker discharge, and faster recovery.
