Treatment
Diagnosis
To confirm you have blepharoptosis, the doctor will perform a physical examination and ask about your medical history. Once you mention the frequency of drooping and how long it has been happening, the doctor may recommend the following tests to find the cause.
Slit Lamp Exam– A high-intensity light is used to check the internal structure of the eye.
Tensilon Test– This test involves using Tensilon (edrophonium drug) to diagnose if you have myasthenia gravis. This condition can be the potential cause of blepharoptosis.
After finding the cause of eyelid sagging, the doctor will further perform a complete eye exam, visual field testing, and take photographs of the eyelid from different angles to plan the surgery and document the reason for the insurance claim.
