Myomectomy is a surgical procedure to remove uterine fibroids while preserving the uterus. It is usually suggested when the fibroids start causing symptoms like frequent urination, irregular bleeding, pelvic pain, and heavy periods. Myomectomy can be performed in 3 ways based on the requirement and severity of the condition:
- Abdominal myomectomy
- Hysteroscopic myomectomy
- Laparoscopic myomectomy
Unlike other fibroid treatment procedures such ashysterectomy, this procedure preserves a normally functioning uterus which allows the woman to get pregnant in the future.
