Most often a gentle inspection of the anal region is required to see the cut or tear. If the Fistula is not visible on skin surface, additional test like Anoscopy might be prescribed. To better define the Fistula, the doctor may suggest an MRI or ultrasound as well.

Diode laser is used to treat fistula at Pristyn Care. It is a day care procedure performed under general anesthesia in 30 minutes post which the patient can be discharged. Laser energy is delivered by radial fiber directly in the tissues to shrink the nodes from inside. Moreover, laser energy is used to reduce the blood supply nourishing the abnormal growth. Laser surgery prevents the occurrence or recurrence of a prolapse and seals the fistula. The laser procedure for anal fistula is a safe, relatively simple, minimally invasive, sphincter-saving procedure with a high chance of success.
