Factors That Affect Hair Transplant Surgery Cost in India

Various factors that impact the cost of hair transplant surgery are explained below-

    • Technique Used- There are various techniques available to perform hair transplant surgery. And the cost of treatment will vary depending on the technique chosen.
    • The Number of Grafts- The expense of the treatment will increase if a higher number of grafts are required to get the desired results.
    • Donor Area Quality- The quality of donor grafts will also impact the overall cost of hair transplant surgery. A healthy donor area will have many healthy hair follicles, thus, a smaller scalp area will be used, thereby reducing the cost of treatment. If the donor area is not that healthy, a large scalp area will be used, which will increase the cost.
    • Means of Extraction- Typically, hair grafts are extracted manually by the surgeon. But now, robotic technology is also available for extraction. Thus, the cost might increase if the robotic extraction technique is used.
    • Type & Location of the Hospital- The cost of a hair transplant will be higher at a private clinic or hospital compared to a government facility. Moreover, the city where you are getting treatment also impacts the cost, as the cost of living and medical care is higher in metro cities.
    • Surgeon’s Fee– A surgeon with ample experience is likely to charge more to carry out the procedure. At the same time, he/she will also ensure that the surgery is successful and the patient gets the desired results. So, make sure that you don’t end up choosing a less experienced surgeon to save money and compromise with your treatment.
    • Post-Surgery Medications & Follow-ups- Several medications and follow-up consultations will be required after surgery. The medicines and follow-ups can also make a considerable difference in the overall cost of treatment.

    Benefits of Hair Transplant Surgery

The patients choose hair transplant surgery to regain the lost hair and restore the youthful look. Other benefits of hair transplantation are as follows-

    • It gives you natural-looking hair.
    • The bald area on your scalp will be covered completely.
    • You can get the volume and thickness of hair that you desire.
    • Having luscious and healthy hair will boost your confidence and self-esteem.
    • The transplanted hair won’t need any specially medicated shampoo or product to last longer.

What Are The Different Methods of Hair Restoration?

There are various surgical and non-surgical methods of hair restoration. The most suitable method is recommended by the doctor after evaluating the patient’s hair loss pattern and extent. Some common methods used include the following:

    • Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE): It is a hair transplant technique where individual hair follicles are extracted from the donor area (typically the back of the scalp) using a small punch tool. These follicles are then transplanted into the recipient area with precision, creating a natural-looking hairline. FUE does not leave a linear scar, and the healing time is relatively faster compared to other techniques.
    • Follicular Unit Transplantation (FUT): FUT, also known as the strip method, involves surgically removing a strip of scalp from the donor area. The strip is then dissected into individual hair grafts, which are subsequently transplanted into the recipient area. FUT allows for the transplantation of a large number of grafts in a single session, making it suitable for extensive hair loss cases. However, it does leave a linear scar, which can be concealed by the surrounding hair.
    • Direct Hair Implantation (DHI): It is an advanced form of FUE technique. The individual hair follicle is extracted using a punch tool and directly implanted into the scalp using a specialized tool called a CHOI implanter pen. This tool allows the surgeon to have better control over the angle, depth, and direction of hair implantation.
    • Hair PRP: Platelet-rich plasma hair therapy is a non-surgical method of hair restoration. The treatment involves extracting a small amount of blood and spinning it in a centrifuge to separate the platelet-rich plasma from the blood. The solution is then injected into the scalp at targeted areas to stimulate hair growth. Multiple sessions of hair PRP are required for optimal results.
    • GFC Therapy: GFC stands for growth factor concentrate. This is another non-surgical therapy for hair loss and thinning. It involves extracting concentrated growth factors from the blood plasma to promote hair growth. It is often used as a complementary treatment along with hair transplant surgery and requires 2-4 sessions to provide optimal results.

FAQs around 1000 Grafts Hair Transplant

Does health insurance cover hair transplant treatment?

No, hair transplant surgery is a cosmetic procedure. Hence, it is not covered by health insurance policies under any circumstance. You will have to cover the entire expense of the treatment personally.

Can I get hair PRP with 1000 grafts hair transplant surgery? Will it cost more?

Yes, you can opt for hair PRP (platelet-rich plasma) along with the surgical transplantation, though it is usually unnecessary and will increase the treatment cost. The PRP treatment is usually not recommended with hair transplants in which 1000 grafts are being used. However, if the newly implanted hair follicles fail to survive and the hair density is not desirable, PRP can be used to improve the results.
