Frenuloplasty is the most effective treatment for frenulum breve. It is a specialized technique that treats solely the condition while preserving the foreskin.
Frenuloplasty is the surgical procedure that involves modification of the frenulum. Frenulum or banjo string is the small tag of skin that connects the foreskin to the glans (head of the penis). Frenulum is a sensitive part of the penis. However, in some cases, it can cause pain and discomfort during erection, especially when its length is too short. Additionally, it also stands the risk of getting torn.
Frenuloplasty helps in relieving the tightness and restriction caused by the frenulum, and lets men have a painless erection.
Circumcision can also help in treating the tight frenulum. But, not only the frenulum, it removes the entire foreskin of the penis. Therefore, frenuloplasty is the best treatment option for tight frenulum. It does not affect the rest of the foreskin and leaves it intact.

Not all uncircumcised men require frenuloplasty. Most men do not face issues with the frenulum and therefore, do not require this surgery. However, some men experience symptoms that make getting this surgery requisite. Males experiencing the following symptoms are ideal candidates for frenuloplasty surgery:
It is the condition of the irritation and inflammation of the head of the penis. Uncircumcised males are more prone to balanitis. In balanitis, the glans penis turns reddish. Balanitis also causes itching, swelling, and soreness of the penis.
Some STIs can lead to balanitis, which may further cause tight foreskin (tight frenulum). Gonorrhea, genital herpes, syphilis are some of the STIs that increase the chances of developing tight frenulum.
There are certain skin conditions that can either cause or worsen the condition of the tight frenulum. Eczema, lichen sclerosus, lichen planus, psoriasis, penis infection are the skin conditions that can contribute to the tight foreskin.
In balanoposthitis, inflammation of both the glans penis and the foreskin occurs. A fungal infection called candida is the major cause of balanoposthitis. Balanoposthitis is yet another major risk factor for tight frenulum.
The diagnosis procedure before frenuloplasty isn’t very complicated. The doctors generally examine the frenulum in a physical examination and look for other complications. Additionally, they ask questions about the symptoms that you’re experiencing, medical history, etc., before suggesting treatment.
There is nothing to worry about the procedure of frenuloplasty. The modern laser-based procedure of frenuloplasty is simple and has a high success rate. The entire procedure takes only 10-15 minutes. Frenuloplasty is a daycare procedure and the patient can go home on the same day. Also, the recovery period is very short for frenuloplasty surgery. The patient fully recovers within 3-5 days and can easily resume work after that. There are only a few simple instructions that the doctor asks the patient to observe for a few days.
This is the conventional method of Frenuloplasty. The patient is sedated with a general or local anesthetic during this procedure. Then, the surgeon makes an incision in the frenulum and stretches it to increase its length. The stretched frenulum is then sealed with stitches. The stretched frenulum helps relieve the pain and discomfort the patient has been experiencing.
Laser frenuloplasty is the minimally invasive method of Frenuloplasty and involves no cuts, stitches, or blood loss. In this method, the surgeons use a carbon dioxide laser to perform the procedure and reduce the risk of scarring after surgery. Additionally, the surgery takes very less time and the recovery period is also much shorter.
Frenuloplasty surgery is generally quite safe, has a high success rate, and does not cause complications in most cases. Most patients are satisfied after the procedure, and very few require complete circumcision afterwards. However, this surgery has its own share of risks and complications that all patients must know of. Here are some complications that might occur after Frenuloplasty surgery:
The average cost of frenuloplasty surgery in India typically ranges between INR 30,000 – INR 35,000. However, the final cost of surgery depends on various factors, including- the severity of the condition, choice of the hospital, and experience of the urologist.
These are the symptoms that a person with a tight frenulum has to face. Well, you won’t have to endure this pain forever. A tight frenulum is totally treatable.
There are treatments available to cure the problem of the tight frenulum. There are numerous ointments and steroid creams that help in relieving the tightness of the frenulum. Even, gentle stretching of the foreskin or massage can help in retracting the foreskin. But, none of these offer a permanent solution for tight frenulum.
Uncircumcised men who have a tight penis foreskin and experience pain during erection or otherwise because of it might need frenuloplasty. This procedure offers relief from these issues and eliminates the need for circumcision.
The bruising and swelling after frenuloplasty can take 3 to 4 days to subside. But, the total recovery period after this surgery is around 2 to 3 weeks. During this period, the patients must take some preventive measures, such as avoiding oily foods and strenuous activities.
Frenuloplasty is performed under anesthesia, and it, therefore, does not cause pain or discomfort. However, some patients might experience mild discomfort, which is generally manageable through medicines.
A frenulum is the fold of elastic tissues that connects the glans (head of the penis) to the rest of the penis. This band of tissues is present at the bottom side of the glans penis. The frenulum is sensitive to touch and hence imparts to the sexual pleasure of the male.
Sometimes, this band of tissues is tight or short which is a troublesome condition. In other words, such a frenulum is called frenulum breve. The severity of the tightness of frenulum can differ in every case. Tight frenulum restricts the back and forth movement of the foreskin. Therefore, this condition needs medical attention otherwise it can cause complications.

I had a great experience getting my treatment done through Prystincare. My personal coordinator was Archit who was present with me since the start and helped me with all the appointments and procedure bookings. He was very dedicated to his work and also ensured constantly that I did not have any problems. I would recommend Archit 10/10 as a personal coordinator to anyone coming to Prystin Care. Post my procedure, I had Kazim who helped me with the documents processing and discharge related procedure. Kazim was very approachable and helped me process my discharge the quickest he could. He was present every step of the way and also coordinated with the hospital staff very well. Kudos to the Prystincare team for making this process an extremely smooth and comfortable one. I would definitely recommend it to anyone I know who may want to get a similar procedure done. Coming to my concerns - 1. I would wish you re-evaluate your pricing for the recommended procedures along with the hospital. I don’t mind paying 500rs extra than what was assured to me but it helps a customer trust you more if the expectation is set correct since the beginning. 2. I was requested to shift my room to another in order to accommodate another Prystincare patient. Although I didn’t mind shifting, the place i shifted to, I couldn’t rest properly due to another patient’s condition and ended up having been awake almost the entire night. Please let the patients know beforehand about the hospital they will be going to and the type of accommodation there so that nobody has to shift their bed post a procedure to be ‘accommodating’. Else have an option for a room upgrade with added cost for those who may not be okay sharing a room with two patient beds. That’s it! Thank you to the Prystin care team again!
