  • Sitz Bath: Sitz or sitting baths are usually taken after a bowel movement. You can soak in a bathtub or use special equipment for the same, filled with a few inches of warm water for about 15 minutes at a time. Repeat it two to three times a day. If you want to wash the area too, use unscented soap and don't scrub, gently pat to dry.
  • Add more fiber in diet: Fiber softens stools and makes it move through your body easily. You’d want to add beans, Psyllium husk, whole-grain bread, cereals, and fresh fruits & veggies to your grocery shopping list. You can also try a fiber supplement but remember to add fiber slowly in your diet as too much fiber can cause gas and bloating which is not good news in piles.
  • Drink lots of fluids: Water is the best choice to stay hydrated. Drink around 7-8 liters daily. Additionally, prune juice is also a natural laxative. You can try it, it is completely safe.
  • Exercising: Walking almost 30 minutes on a daily basis can keep you from getting stopped up.
  • Rubbing is a relief: Some wipes or creams can soothe pain and discomfort with no side effects. You can try Witch Hazel, it's doctor recommended. Witch hazel is also known to reduce pain, itching, and bleeding.
  • Apply Ice pack: Use a cold ice pack, apply on the target areas 3-4 times in a day. It can lower the pain and swell for some time.
  • Use Cotton cloths: Wear loose & soft inner-wear or underwear to keep the area airy and stop moisture from building up.
  • Don’t sit for long duration: During loo, if you don't go within a few minutes, don't wait up. Try to get into a routine, wait for some time, do your regular chores. It will pass.
