The circumcision stapler is a single-use device, which is a sterile, hand-held, manual surgical instrument preloaded with non-bioabsorbable skin staples intended to be used to perform a circumcision in babies. It is designed to cut the foreskin and apply a circular row of staples proximal to the cut line. After the stapler circumcision is completed, the baby gets discharged on the same day, within a few hours, so that he can rest and recover at home.
Open Circumcision
Open circumcision is a traditional procedure for circumcision in babies where the surgeon creates incisions along the upper length of the foreskin and then removes them. Open circumcision in babies is associated with certain postoperative complications, but it also has the advantage that any injury caused can be identified instantly and addressed intraoperatively.
Most circumcisions, whether laser or stapler, are performed within 24–72 hours after birth by a pediatrician or obstetrician. You can also take your little one to the pediatrician’s place within the first 10 days after birth to have the circumcision performed there. It’s considered safest to have a circumcision performed in a medical setting.
