As mentioned earlier, you may not need surgery for a 4.5 mm kidney stone. Surgical removal is advised in cases where the kidney stone is 5 mm or larger. A 4.5 mm kidney stone has a high probability of flushing out within a few weeks if you take all the necessary steps advised by the urologist. However, if the symptoms recur, or you experience residual pain even after passing the kidney stone, consult your urologist again and undergo imaging tests for complete clarity on the condition.
